It absorbs carbon dioxide in the air to form barium carbonate precipitation. It is mainly used as an additive in the petroleum industry, and is also used in barium-based grease and oil refining, beet sugar, medicine, plastic stabilizer, organic synthesis, water softening, and glass and enamel industries.
